Are you job hunting?
If you’re job hunting. How well have you used Linkein to search for job?
1. Go and create a LinkedIn profile. Do not ask me how. You’ve a smart phone. Make use of it!
2. Add all of your skills and achievements there.
3. Research companies of your interest. Follow them and people who work in these companies.
4. Follow people and network.
5. Make sure your profile is set to “available to work”. Input all details about the kind of job you desire.
6. Add your professional qualifications too.
7. Have a catchy headline and summary page.
8. Network with people. I don’t mean make back to back posts but reach out to guys who work where you wanna work. Be friendly. Have conversations. Be genuinely interested in people. Don’t reach out only when you need something. Sometimes reach out and just say hi to everyone.
9. Reach out to recruiters. Have a 30 second elevation pitch ready. With them, you have to be straight to the point and ready.
Request for referrals from people who’ve reached out to. Ensure you’re brief, straight to the point and you’re stating in clear terms what value you’re bringing to the table.
10. Have your resume ready if requested. Don’t give anyone until they ask.
This days, networking and referrals is the way to get jobs o. And LinkedIn (not Facebook) is where you need to be.
Disclaimer: I’m not saying people don’t get jobs on Facebook but LinkedIn is essentially for professionals. Recruiters would be on LinkedIn searching for prospective candidates. Companies looking for people would not come to Facebook to recruit. They’d be on LinkedIn. You get it? Except of course you’re doing this to expand your chances, then that’s fine.
All the best!
Don’t forget that should you ever see a job you’re interested in, TARGET your resume to meet that jobs criteria. Google what targeted resume to know more. It is very important!
